Product Overview

Piroplasma, which includes Babesia and Theileria primarily, is parasitic on red blood cells in human or animal. It is originated from family ixodidae. Mainly distributed in trophical and subtrophical region so far, but shows also increasing global distribution by the effect of global warming. Piroplasma-related disease is distributed globally in livestocks. It is mediated by 3 kinds of ticks in their hosts, which are found in Korea also. Once-infected animal may mediate infection of those microbials to other animals, and would give huge damage to livestock farmers. Influx of infected animals, as well as mediation by ricks, may change disease-negative nation into the disease-positive one, Endemic region. Piroplasma-infected human or animal shows symptons including anemia by hemolysis, fatigue, loss of appetite, headache, high fever and chill at 1-4 weeks after infection. It may result in fatality if an immune suppressed animal is infected. Korea ticks, which mediate various Piroplasma, include Haemaphysalis, Longicornis, Rhipicephalussanguineus and Boophilus microplus.

(A) Target gene of Piroplasma were used for the sensitivity test (lane 1 - 5 : 1.0 x 10⁵ - 1.0 x 10¹ copies, serial 10-fold dilution). PCR condition was as follows: 95°C for 5 min, 95°C for 20 sec, 59°C for 50 sec (40 cycles), then 72°C for 5 min. 5 ul of PCR product were loaded on 2% TBE Agarose gel, containing Ethidium bromide (EtBr), followed by electrophoresis (30-40 min).
(B) Bovine or Dog normal blood was used for specificity test. Sample 5, 6 were prepared 1.0 x 10⁵ copies/reaction. PCR condition was as follows: 95°C for 5 min, 95°C for 20 sec, 59°C for 50 sec (40 cycles), and 72°C for 5 min. 5 ul of PCR product were loaded on 2% TBE Agarose gel, containing EtBr, followed by electrophoresis (30-40 min).
