Overview

C. parapsilosis is a yeast that primarily causes sepsis, endocarditis and arthritis. C. parapsilosis can grow by attaching to the medical devices such as catheters and prosthetic devices. Especially, antifungal drugs efficiency can be decreased by biofilm produced by C. parapsilosis and the therapeutic effect may be reduced. In the case of underweight newborns, it can be dangerous because they are easily exposed to C. parapsilosis if care is not taken in the use of medical devices.
