Overview

C. amalonaticus is a gram-negative bacterium commonly found in the human digestive tract. It is an opportunistic pathogen that does not lead to infection in healthy individuals, but can infect immunocompromised individuals. In addition, it can cause neonatal meningitis or gastroenteritis in newborns, and also cause urinary tract infections when present in the urinary tract. However, caution is warranted because it is so common in the human gut that it is often ignored.
