Overview

P. nigrescens is part of the normal oral flora frequently found in the human gingiva. When certain microbes increase in the oral flora, the immune system over-attacks, leading to various diseases. Among these microorganisms, P. nigrescens forms colonies on the tooth surface. And it causes inflammation of the oral tissues, which leads to periodontitis. In addition, it can also cause nasopharyngeal and intra-abdominal infections, and is recently known to be related to arteriosclerosis.
