Overview

S. anginosus is a bacterium present in various organs of the human mouth, upper respiratory tract, gastrointestinal tract and vagina. S. anginosus belongs to the anginosus group or milleri group, which are streptococci that cause abscesses. It is mainly known to cause invasive purulent infections, gastrointestinal and genitourinary infections. S. anginosus strains are sensitive to penicillin and ampicillin, so treatment can be progressed by administering appropriate antibiotics.
