Overview

E. lenta is a gram-positive bacterium commonly found in the human gastrointestinal tract. It is known as a causative agent of bacteremia in immunocompromised or gastrointestinal disease patients. Infectious diseases such as intestinal infection, liver abscess, bacteremia, skin abscess, and urinary tract infection have been reported due to E. lenta. In the case of bacteremia caused by E. lenta, it can range from asymptomatic bacteremia to severe disseminated infectious disease.
