Overview

B. thetaiotaomicron is a gram-negative bacterium that causes peritonitis, sepsis, or suppurative arthritis. B. thetaiotaomicron is a part of the intestinal flora residing in the gastrointestinal tract and is an opportunistic pathogen that exhibits pathogenic properties through infection with intestinal wounds. In addition, it is a pathogen that needs to be careful not only because of direct infection to other tissues but also because the substance produced during the metabolic process contributes to the growth of other pathogens.
