Overview

S. salivarius is a gram-positive bacterium that causes sepsis and endocarditis. S. salivarius is a normal flora found in the upper respiratory tract and oral cavity of the human body but is an opportunistic pathogen that becomes pathogenic when it enters the bloodstream. Therefore, if contaminated syringes or catheters are used without care, mainly in medical institutions such as hospitals, they can be fatal for patients with weakened immunity.
