Overview

S. dysgalactiae is a gram-positive bacterium known to cause primarily cellulitis and, in rare cases, meningitis and purulent inflammation. S. dysgalactiae can be broadly divided into S. dysgalactiae subspecies equisimilis (SDSE) and S. dysgalactiae subspecies dysgalactiae (SDSD). Among them, SDSE is a widely known pathogen that is harmful to humans and causes various diseases, including severe invasive infections.
