AccuPower® Haemophilus influenzae Real-Time PCR Kit

Overview

H. influenzae is a bacterium that spreads through sneezing and coughing and causes otitis media, meningitis, and respiratory infections. It usually lives in the upper respiratory tract of children and adults. It leads to disease that occurs mainly in children and is rare in adults with healthy immune systems. In order to prevent the most pathogenic influenza B, children should receive the basic vaccination, and adults who are at high risk are also recommended to be vaccinated. For diagnosis, blood or other body fluids are taken to identify the bacteria. After identification additional tests are performed to determine which antibiotics are effective for treatment.
