AccuPower® Cronobacter sakazakii Real-Time PCR Kit

Overview

C. sakazakii is a gram-negative bacterium that causes meningitis, sepsis, and necrotizing enterocolitis in infants under the age of 1 month. Before 2007, it was given the name Enterobacter sakazakii, but has been renamed as Cronobacter because of its danger to infants. C. sakazakii is vulnerable to heat, so infection can be prevented simply by washing dishes and feeding bottle at high temperature, those that are in direct contact with infants. In general, adults have a few or mild symptoms.
