Overview

A. baumannii is a gram-negative bacterium known to primarily cause pathogenic pneumonia and recently found to be involved in infections of the central nervous system, skin and soft tissue, and bone. In addition, A. baumannii is a pathogen of concern for infections in public places because it has antibiotic resistance, dryness resistance, and disinfectant resistance. When the number of patients in a hospital increases due to war or an epidemic, it colonizes various facilities such as railings of hospital and infects groups of patients. Hence, A. baumannii is a pathogen that requires particular attention to prevent group infection in hospitals.
