Overview

V. harveyi is a Gram-negative bacterium, and only pathogenic to marine organisms. Infected marine organisms can cause eye lesions, muscle necrosis, body surface ulcers, and fin defects. Since it is difficult to visually diagnose the presence of infection, a PCR test is required for an accurate diagnosis.
