Overview

C. upsaliensis is a gram-negative bacterium known to be one of the causative agents of gastroenteritis in dogs and campylobacteriosis in humans. C. upsaliensis is pathogenic to livestock and humans, and is mainly transmitted through ingestion of raw meat, contaminated water or food. When infected with C. upsaliensis, symptoms such as gastroenteritis, fever, diarrhea, and stomach cramps may occur, and appropriate antibiotic treatment such as Erythromycin is required.
