Zika virus, Dengue virus, and Chikungunya virus are widely distributed in tropical regions, such as Asia, South Pacific and Africa. Vector for all the viruses mentioned is a mosquito. When infected, its symptoms are fever, arthralgia (joint-ache) and mylagia (muscle-ache). When a pregnant person is infected, risk of hydrocephalus (shrinkage of brain in infants) is increased. Patient zero for Zika virus was found in Brazil (2015). Since then it has spread worldwide at a rapid rate. Therefore, the need for development of diagnosis/treatment for ZIKV has increased dramatically since treatment is not currently available. Thus, it is vital to detect infection from Zika virus at an early stage. AccuPower® ZIKV (DENV, CHIKV) Multiplex Real-Time RT-PCR Kit has all of the necessary components in a RT-PCR master mix (enzymes, buffer, and dNTPs) aliquoted in each tube, making it possible to be an accurate and fast detection of ZIKV, DENV and CHIKV simultaneously.
