Chlamydia pneumoniae is a species of Chlamydophila, an obligate intracellular bacterium that infects humans and is a major cause of pneumonia. Outbreaks of C. pneumoniae occur mostly in crowded environments, like schools, college dormitories, military barracks, and nursing homes, where transmission is possible through airborne droplets from close person-to-person contact. C. pneumoniae causes mild pneumonia or bronchitis in adolescents and young adults. Older adults may experience more severe disease and repeated infections.

User centric ExiStation Manager software or ExiDiagnosis software automatically analyzes the test results based upon the Ct (threshold cycle) value.
