Korea National Institute of Health under the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has collaborated with Bioneer to develop Norovirus Diagnostic kits.

Many researchers in the National Institute of Health have concentrated in finding Norovirus for past six months and that specific target gene of Norovirus that the researchers had discovered, Bioneer developed the diagnostic kits for that certain target. Bioneer and the National Institute of Health have collaborated together to improve and verify the efficiencies as well as minimize the work process. They have proved in the outstanding test results in comparison experiment with those kits supplied by various diagnostic expert companies from different countries. Bioneer's ExicyclerTM 96 will be placed along with diagnostic kits for Norovirus in KFDA. The molecular diagnostic analysis can be done much faster and more accurate at an early stage by using Bioneer's Exicycler Real-Time Quantitative Thermal Block.

From the basis of long experiences and technology that Bioneer possess in genomic research development and products, Bioneer has introduced molecular diagnostic products from July 2008 and so far, it has seen the great outcome. With expansion of clinical diagnostic market, Bioneer is planning to emphasize in supporting especially Health Center, CDC, Quality Inspection Services and various national government organization. Bioneer has developed the total system for Molecular diagnostics from basic materials to instruments and kits and moreover, depending on the project that the organizations have, Bioneer is developing to the instruments and the kits that can be customized that can be used for various targets upon a request from different organizations. Norovirus collaboration between Korea National Institute of Health and Bioneer will be a significant example to expand the global market.

About Bioneer Corporation

Bioneer, established in 1992, has developed a broad range of proprietary products that provide total genomic research solutions for life sciences research including genomics, nucleic acid-based molecular diagnostics and gene therapy studies. Bioneer has extensive R&D experience in developing new drugs, use of siRNA and drug delivery systems, and provides unrivalled service and support for such tools. Through the creation, development, and availability of the S.pombe deletion mutant library, Bioneer provides innovative tools for improving the development of new drugs. For example, this library predicts the toxicity of chemical substances for anti-cancer, Hyperlipidemia and also provides molecular level mechanism analysis of natural compound drugs. The company is headquartered in South Korea with an oligonucleotide manufacturing facility in the U.S., regional offices in Europe, and is supported by a network of distributors throughout the world. Bioneer Corporation, a leading biotech in Korea is officially launching its wholly owned US subsidiary, Bioneer, Inc., on Oct 11th, 2006. Following its IPO in December of 2005, Bioneer has expanded its horizons beyond Korea, and into North America and Europe, to address the needs of academic researchers, and the Biotech and Pharmaceutical community.

Bioneer, Inc's new facility comprises a 22,000 sq ft purpose-built manufacturing facility and distribution center in Alameda, CA. The site, previously occupied by Qiagen Operon was strategically chosen for its proximity to the San Francisco Bay biotech hub, the availability of an expert qualified workforce, and for environmental conditions ideally suited to the production of synthetic oligonucleotides. At the outset, the extensively renovated manufacturing facility has the capacity to manufacture 6000 oligos/day, capacity will increase as demand increases.

Bioneer's key business areas are Genomics, Drug Target Discovery and RNA interference. Bioneer has served the Korean life science research market with superior products since 1992. The Bioneer product line comprises custom oligonucleotides, injectable siRNA, a wide variety of DNA & RNA prep kits, a complete range of DNA amplification enzymes, reagents and kits, and a few other specialized products. Bioneer's superior quality combined with its excellent customer service has given the company a market leadership position in Korea for most of the products they sell. In North America, Bioneer is dedicated to providing the 'highest quality and value for money' solutions to molecular biology researchers in academia, biotech and pharmaceutical companies.

DAEJEON, Jan. 10 - Bioneer Corporation (Kosdaq: 064550) today announced that sold three MassARRAY(R) genetic analysis systems in the region during the fourth quarter of 2006 including a sale to the world-class National Cancer Center of the Republic of Korea..

In September 2006, Bioneer was named as the exclusive distributor and promoter of Sequenom, Inc. (Nasdaq: SQNM) ‘s genetic analysis products for South Korea. Bioneer also operates a core facility that provides contract services for human, livestock, and agricultural applications throughout South Korea using Sequenom's MassARRAY system and consumable products. Under its relationship with Sequenom, Bioneer offers MassARRAY-based product and service solutions for fine mapping genotyping, gene and biomarker discovery, validation, screening, DNA methylation marker pattern analysis (epigenetic studies), and quantitative gene expression analysis.

"These sales represent the increased demand we are seeing in South Korea for fine mapping genetic analysis solutions and for life sciences research tools in general," said Dr. Han-Oh Park, President and Chief Executive Officer of Bioneer. "Sequenom's products and our service offerings provide compelling value and are especially well suited for fine mapping genotyping, a market that is emerging in South Korea as researchers complete their whole genome studies. Sequenom's products are similarly attractive for DNA methylation pattern and gene expression analysis projects being conducted by prominent cancer research centers."

"We look forward to future sales growth in the South Korean market as we continue to build our relationship with Bioneer," said Harry Stylli, Ph.D., President and Chief Executive Officer of Sequenom.
